Action on Smoking and Health is a small charity that punches above its weight in influencing the health agenda. For nearly half a century it’s been campaigning to reduce smoking, still the biggest cause of preventable death in the UK. It’s played a major part in achieving bans on smoking in public places and in cars, advertising bans and other legislation to reduce death and disease from smoking and protect people from the effects of second-hand smoke.
As communications manager with one direct report within the small but dedicated ASH team, you would continue this campaigning work, developing the communications strategy but also taking day-to-day operational responsibility for handling traditional and digital media. You would also oversee the production of underpinning resources such as fact sheets and briefing papers, turning policy positions into engaging copy for a variety of audiences.
ASH works in partnership with many health organisations with the same goals, so we’re looking for someone used to collaborative working and sharing ideas.
