Action on Smoking and Health (ASH) is a public health charity set up by the Royal College of Physicians to end the harm caused by tobacco.

After 50 years' successful campaigning this goal is within our grasp, but only if the inequalities in smoking across society are addressed.

Fall in smoking means more people now vape than smoke

Official government estimates of smoking and vaping show that a further record drop in smoking means that there are now more people in Great Britain who vape than smoke. An estimated 5.4 million people aged 16+ vape daily or occasionally compared to 4.9 million current smokers.

Health Leaders Demand Action on Generational Smoking Ban

Over 1200 public health professionals have urged political parties to ensure the swift passage of the Tobacco and Vapes Bill, warning that an estimated 124,600 young people (aged 18-25) will have taken up smoking since the legislation was first introduced last November.
